Is coffee really bad or is it actually good for me?  The news has us all confused!  One week it’s bad, the next it’s great.  It’s true, there is a lot of debate.  Different studies have shown amazing benefits, others have shown risks and downsides.

The good: coffee has been shown to decrease the risk of Type 2 Diabetes and some cancers, can improve mood and memory, boosts metabolism and sports performance and is loaded with good antioxidants.

The bad: it is a highly addictive substance that alters stress hormones which can cause you to feel “wired and tired” at the same time.  It is also highly acidic.

The bottom line: we all metabolize substances differently.  If you feel negative side effects when you drink it – don’t!  If you feel great and get more done, go for it – in moderation, of course.  Make sure you’re not loading it up with tons of sugar or heavy creamers.  You can boost the health value by adding a healthy fat such as grass-fed butter, full-fat coconut milk, or coconut oil to make it creamier.
