Sometimes eating super clean and working out just aren’t enough to get the results you want and deserve. Sometimes there’s something sneaky going on or a habit you might not be aware of that sabotaging your results…
A little background on me…
In 2007, at the age of 28, I came to the realization that if I lived like my relatives, I was already over halfway through my life. You see, my parents and other family members all died young. Like none of the men lived past 70 years old and none of the women lived past 50 years old! 50 years old!! None of them! Specifically, they all died from heart disease.
Thankfully, I was adopted as an infant, so I wasn’t orphaned when my birth family all passed away by the time I was 15 years old…
That was not the future I wanted, but I wasn’t making any better lifestyle decisions than they were… I was overweight, not active, and not paying much attention to my food choices. I had slowly been gaining weight since my teenage years and was tired of being overweight, weak and exhausted all the time.
Here are a few photos of my journey: at age 16 years old, at 24 years old, and at 28 years old after I committed to a 90-day fitness routine – one of the hardest programs at the time (P90X).
I lost 30 pounds, countless inches and gained tremendous strength. This program started my habit of fitness. I’ve maintained that habit ever since. In fact, I still use at-home programs to this day.
Over the years, I slowly started working on improving my nutrition so I could not only be a healthy weight but prevent diseases and age with grace and vitality. It was a slow transition for me, making baby steps toward better choices. I started off eating more vegetables and less “diet” food. Eventually, I transitioned to a fully plant-based eating style with only occasional seafood, eggs and dairy included.
My medical record showed great success over the years of this transition. My cholesterol, for example, greatly improved.
My total cholesterol went from 145 to 110 (which I thought was great at the time). Carotid artery scans also showed all of the plaque buildups that were starting to form in my neck were completely gone. Measurements of the “age” of my arteries went from being 13 years older than my chronological age to 10 years younger than my current age.
Unfortunately, in about 2018, approaching the age of 40, I started feeling chronically sore, dealing with bloating and crazy cravings. I was still eating well and exercising daily, but I found myself not feeling well, gaining weight and so stiff I could hardly get my workouts in. It didn’t make any sense to me. I started doing a lot of research and discovered several problems – my hormones were a mess, my gut was not healthy and I had some habits that weren’t serving my goals. I started a new protocol to fix all of these issues…
After just 12 weeks of a healing protocol:
- 11 pounds lighter
- Waist before/after: 29 inches, 27 inches
- Hips before/after: 37 inches, 35 1/2 inches
- Chest before/after: 37 1/2″, 35 inches
- Thighs before/after: 19 inches, 18 inches
- Biceps before/after: 11 inches, 10 1/2 inches
- Calves before/after: 13 inches, 12 inches
- Energy skyrocketed
- Skin, hair, and nails improved
- No more bloating
Throughout this journey, I earned several different nutrition certifications, healed my gut, and broke the habits that were unknowingly taking me down the wrong path.
So many women struggle with these same symptoms – fatigue, cravings, bloating, unexplained weight loss or an inability to lose weight, hormone issues, and chronic soreness. I am here to share what I’ve learned to help you get the results you deserve.
