The Value of Coaching a podcast by Functional Nutritionist Andrea Nicholson

The Value of Coaching

Today we are talking about the value of coaching.

I want to share this story because this one decision changed my life forever…

That decision was to stop trying to figure it out on my own and ask for help.

I’ve always prided myself on being independent, self-sufficient, and totally capable of figuring anything out myself. It is definitely NOT in my nature to ask for help (or even really accept it).

While it is absolutely true that I am proud of being independent – it’s not always the best path.

I’ve come to realize that it’s actually rarely the right choice.

There’s no weakness in asking for help. There is great power in it.

It doesn’t mean that I couldn’t do it on my own. It doesn’t mean that I wasn’t capable. Believing that I should be able to do everything independently is simply a thought error. And a significant error that definitely isn’t serving me.

Today, I know that asking for help, or accepting help, means I value getting the RESULTS more than you value being independent.  I no longer have to believe that it means I’m not smart enough, strong enough, capable enough, or enough in any way.

And if I want results faster, easier, and more effectively – I should hire an expert to get me there.

I am an expert in nutrition and healthy living – yet even I had my own blindspots. In many ways I considered myself at a level 8 or 9 out of 10 – but there were some issues I couldn’t seem to solve. When I worked with another professional, it became very apparent that I really wasn’t at a level 8 or 9 with my overall health, but I was really at more of a 3.

I had symptoms that I just chalked up to “normal” for me. And I was settling for just being “fine”.

This process of working with another pro helped me realize that and aim much higher – for VIBRANT health

That’s the power of coaching.

You’re too close to YOU.

You have blindspots you aren’t aware of.

You have patterns you can’t see.

You’re likely making seemingly healthy choices that aren’t actually serving you.

And you probably don’t know what to do next.

You don’t know what you don’t know.

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to see where someone else is going so wrong with their life? Think of someone you know of that has been in (or is currently in) a terrible relationship – yet they have no idea. YOU can see it so clearly, but they have blindspots.

We have this uncanny ability to see where others are off track in their lives. And it’s NOT our responsibility (or wise) to tell them, unless they’re asking our opinion or they’ve hired us to say the hard things. We don’t have this same level of insight into ourselves. Having an outside view is invaluable. Especially when that outside view is a professional and you’re paying them to tell you the hard things.

You are too close to you. You don’t know what you don’t know about your body.

I can help you with that.

I know how to help you identify ACTIONS to take through gaining INSIGHTS into your body, life, habits, choices, and behaviors.

ACTIONABLE AWARENESS into your entire approach to living and BEING healthy.

This is the clearest, most direct route to your ideal health. And it’s probably far beyond the ideal you have in your mind right now.

A great coach sees greatness in you, even when you don’t see it for yourself.

I’d be honored to be that coach for you. To help you uncover hidden blocks to you being your best.

I believe in you. I know what’s possible for you.

I hope this information really helps you understand what the value of coaching really is. This is why we hire trained experts to do lots of things in our lives. We hire experts to fix things in our homes, mechanics to fix our cars, medical professionals to diagnose and treat problems. And we hire coaches to help us get results faster. This is why even professional athletes have coaches. There is tremendous value in coaching.
